How to Handle Stress at WorkPlace
Stress at workplace can really impact your life. Everyone deals with difficult situations, overwhelming workloads, tight deadlines etc at workplace. Everything contributes to stress. Stress could negatively impact ones health and emotional well being. It turn, that adversely affects the family life as well. It is important to put the stress under control and achieve a work-life balance.Here are some steps you can take to reduce stress at workplace.

Take breaks. Don't work continuously. working without break stresses both body and mind. Productivity decreases. Similarly spend your vacation days away from work. This will prepare you for better days ahead.

Learn to say "NO". There will always be more work than you can handle. Don't try to make everyone happy and overload yourself. Instead, politely mention the situation and say why can't you take up additional work load. This will allow you to manage the work better and reduce stress.

Keep realistic goals. Even if you LOVE what you do, you can do only so much. Keep that in mind and don't push yourself beyond limit. Setting unrealistic target will only add more stress and reduce your productivity.

Do one thing at a time. You may have several things on your plate. In a hurry to finish them all, don't start doing many things together. Your will be stressed out. Instead, take up the task one at a time and you will be able to accomplish more without stressing yourself.

Do simple exercises. Even at work place, you simply stretch around a bit to relax. Doing deep breathing for few minutes will relax and rejuvenate you and eliminate that stress built in the body and mind.

Plan your activities. Being organized helps. When there is lot to do, organize the tasks, prioritize them and allocate time for each. This will give you an idea of what will it take to complete them. Clear idea of tasks at hand makes you feel more comfortable and reduces stress and anxiety.

Delegate. Even if you are an expert, you won't be able to do EVERYTHING. Pass on some work to someone else that has the competence. This will offload you a bit and you will be less stressed about completing tasks. Don't hesitate to ask for help. Don't bring "work" home. Remember, work is work, it is not life. Don't try to do work related tasks at home. It will unnecessarily create tension in the family and everyone will be stressed out because of that.

Love your job or change it. Don't try to kill time doing something you don't like. Even if you are not overloaded, work you don't like will stress you out. If the stress is due to work you don't like, change it.

Discuss your situation with someone, who may be able to offer help. If your work is causing you lot of stress bring it up with your manager or a co worker and discuss. They may have solutions to address your issue.
