How to Make a Balloon Stress Ball

Researchers have spent countless hours and billions of dollars trying to find ways and devices to help the average person relieve their daily stress. Before you run out and purchase one of these gadgets, consider raiding your pantry and making your own.

  • Cream of tartar

      Combine ½ cup salt, 1 tbsp. oil, 1 cup of flour, 1 tsp. cream of tartar and 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan and cook over low heat until the ingredients form a soft dough ball.

      Remove your dough and let it cool for one hour. Kneed on a floured surface, a sheet of floured wax paper on a tabletop will work, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

      Cut the neck off 3 to 4 balloons. Roll a piece of dough into a ball to a size that will fit within the balloon. Thhe more dough, the firmer the stress ball.

      Place the dough inside a balloon. One helper should stretch your balloon open while you work the dough inside.

      Stretch open a second balloon and place your dough stuffed balloon inside. Make sure the opening of the first balloon is covered by the second balloon.

      Continue this process with the remaining balloons. Use a balloon with its neck intact for your outer layer and tie the neck to keep everything together.
