How to Report a Fight to the Police
Sometimes fights can escalate to the point where someone is at risk for being seriously injured. To keep another person from getting a black eye, bruises, broken limps or worse, others often need to intervene. Instead of getting involved in the fight and risking harm, you can report the fight to police officers, who are equipped and trained to break up the fight and assist people who need help.Instructions

1
Call the police and tell officers as much as you can about the fight. Let them know how it started, where it is occurring and who is involved, if possible. Provide information about the make and license plate number of a vehicle if someone has driven off after a fight. If you do not know exactly where the fight is or who is involved, provide the police with all of the information you are able.

2
Go down to the police station to report the fight if you live close to a station or do not have access to a phone. File a police report at the station to provide details of the fight. Go to the station as soon as possible so that officers can get involved immediately.

3
Stay at the scene after you report the fight - unless your safety is in jeopardy - so that you are available to talk to police officers about the incident. When police officers arrive on the scene, provide them with facts about the fight as well as contact information, if asked.

Provide details to police after a fight has occurred, especially if someone appears to have been harmed. If you hear a verbal argument between a couple or family members that appears to be more than just a regular family squabble, report it to the police so officers can assist them.
