Plasma is a portion of blood that can be extracted and used to treat many conditions, such as immune-system deficiencies, hepatitis B, hemophilia, rabies, measles, tetanus and rubella. The plasma used in these treatments is obtained exclusively through plasma donation.
Eligibility

Individuals who weigh at least 110 lbs., are between 18 and 65 years old and meet the health-screening criteria of BioLife can donate plasma in Findlay.
Physical Exam

To begin the process a donating plasma, a donor should contact BioLife and make an appointment for a brief physical examination at the BioLife facility. This usually takes about half an hour.
Screening

Before the first and each subsequent plasma donation, BioLife will take a quick medical history and check vital signs to ensure that the donor is healthy enough to donate plasma.
Donation

If the donor's health is deemed acceptable, a needle is placed in the donor's vein and blood is pumped into a machine that separates the plasma, collects it, then returns the blood back to the donor's body.
Compensation

After donation, the donor is given payment in the form of a debit card. BioLife accepts plasma from a single donor up to twice a week.
