How to Donate Plasma in Lansing, Michigan

Plasma, the liquid portion of your blood, is made mostly of water and contains proteins and antibodies that fight disease. Doctors use donated plasma to fight diseases such as hemophilia, which is a bleeding disorder, and immunological disorders. Health-care professionals also use plasma to treat burns and during major surgeries.

During the plasma donation process, a Food and Drug Administration-approved machine separates your blood cells from your plasma, returning the cells to your body. The liquid plasma is collected and donated to hospitals.
