Plasma Donation Centers in Texas

Plasma is the clear liquid in blood, separate from red blood cells, and is removed through the process of plasmapheresis. The patient lies reclined in a chair and has a needle inserted in him while blood is withdrawn. After the plasma is separated from the blood, the red blood cells are returned to the donor. Plasma cannot be made in a laboratory, so donors provide plasma for various therapies to benefit individuals suffering from hemophilia, severe burns, shock and exposure to rabies.
