Babysitting Notes for Teens

Hiring a teenage babysitter is typically a responsible child care option when you need to leave your children in someone else's care. It's important, however, to leave notes for these teens to reference should an uncomfortable situation arise. Write down important and relevant details for your teen babysitters, and they'll be able to handle most any situation that could arise.
  1. Contact Information

    • It's imperative that your babysitter be able to contact you should an emergency occur while you're out. In addition to a cell phone number, leave the address and phone number to the place where you'll be. Also include the cell phone number of anyone else who may be with you.

Always provide the contact information for another adult who can step in if you can't be contacted, or if they are in closer proximity. Most people opt for a close family member or friend to serve in this capacity. Be sure the babysitter knows both the person's name and phone number.

Also leave the numbers for local emergency responders like the police, ambulance and fire department, as well as the poison control hot line.

    Home Information

    • It's important that the babysitter knows vital information about your home that may be needed in an emergency. Leave a note with your home address and phone number on it every time you leave the house. The teen could falter in an emergency, and forget the address to your home when needing to relay it over the phone to emergency personnel.

Also be sure to leave a note stating the whereabouts of your first aid kit and any other emergency items your child may require.

    Child Information

    • Leave clear and concise notes pertaining to the care of your child, as well as notes about any medication he or she takes. Also leave a notation of all allergies your child has and the contact information for his or her physician. Always instruct your teen babysitter to call 911 in case of emergency.
