How to Use an Umbrella as an Offensive Weapon

What differentiates an offensive attack from a defensive one is semantics: who strikes whom first. People who believe they are in imminent danger could strike the first blow, waiting to be struck first is not wise. The best defense is a good offense. Regardless, many of the tactics to use an umbrella as an offensive weapon are the same as those used with a cane or stick. Read on to learn how to use an umbrella as an offensive weapon.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the umbrella at your side as you would in any case to maintain the element of surprise.

    • 2

Swing it upward to catch it with your other hand several inches below the end when you have decided it's time to use the umbrella as an offensive weapon.

    • 3

Drag the tip of the umbrella across your opponent's stomach and simultaneously draw your feet closer together to get your weight behind your attack.

    • 4

Follow up by thrusting the end of the umbrella into the neck around two inches below the chin. This move delivered correctly could cause death or certainly finish the fight. However, you then have several options if you've missed your mark.

    • 5

Bring the umbrella down on your opponent's face and drag it using both hands (left hand on top). Again, put your weight into it by repositioning your feet.

    • 6

Swing the end of the umbrella into the side of the opponent's face with your right hand. This move will flow smoothly in combination with the move in Step 5.

    • 7

Practice using an umbrella as an offensive weapon repeatedly so that you can use any combination as the situation warrants.
