How to Get Certified in Infant and Child CPR
Instructions
-
-
1
Find local chapters of the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. These are reputable organizations that offer infant and child CPR classes.
-
2
Check with other places that might offer infant and child CPR certification programs if your local American Red Cross or American Heart Association chapters are not a convenient option. Other places to look include local hospitals and clinics, community centers or local universities or community colleges. If you work with infants or children, you should also check with your employer.
-
3
Sign up for a class that is offered at a time convenient for you. The class is taken in two parts: one that addresses CPR for infants to 1-year-olds and one that addresses CPR for children ages 1 through 12.
-
4
Schedule an instructor to come to your home or business if this is an option and you prefer it. Some places do offer off-site instruction, and this might be a more convenient choice in some situations, such as if everyone in your home or business is taking the class.
-
5
Pay the fee for the CPR class. The fee is generally between $25 and $45 per person. Along with this fee, you will be able to keep many of the reference materials provided during the class.
-
6
Attend both portions of the CPR class. Pay attention to the instructor and participate. A short test is usually given at the end before you receive your certification.
