Babysitter's Training
-
Older kids can participate in Babysitter's Training so that they will be better able to supervise and help younger children. The American Red Cross offers Babysitter's Training to kids between the ages of 11 to 15. As part of this training, kids can receive their CPR certification. The kids will be trained in basic first aid and CPR. The class lasts for approximately 6 1/2 hours. The class may be taken in one day, or it may be broken up over time in order to work around an individual's schedule.
First Aid For Children Today (F.A.C.T.)
-
The American Red Cross also offers a training program for kids who are between the ages of 5 to 8. The First Aid for Children Today (F.A.C.T.) is a program that can be incorporated into a school's classroom setting. F.A.C.T. takes up to 14 hours to complete, and it is a program that focuses on teaching kids first aid, injury prevention and healthy habits.
Basic Aid Training (B.A.T.)
-
Children between the ages of 8 to 10 can participate in the Red Cross's Basic Aid Training (B.A.T.). During the six-hour course, children will learn how to respond in an emergency situation. They will also be taught basic first aid procedures and injury prevention techniques by their instructor.
