What to do after a CPR?

Immediately after performing CPR:

1. Check the person's response:

- If the person is breathing and has a pulse, place them in the recovery position.

- If the person is not breathing or does not have a pulse, continue with CPR until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive.

2. Call for emergency medical services (EMS) if they have not already been called.

3. Stay with the person:

- Continue to monitor their breathing and pulse.

- If they stop breathing or their pulse stops, start CPR again.

4. Provide emotional support:

- Stay calm and reassuring.

- Talk to the person in a soothing voice.

- Let them know that help is on the way.

5. Follow-up with the person:

- After the person has been taken to the hospital, follow up with them to see how they are doing.

- Offer your support and let them know that you are there for them.

Additional things you may need to do after performing CPR:

- Clean your hands and any equipment that you used.

- Document the incident, including the time, date, and location of the incident, as well as the actions that you took.

- Talk to a friend, family member, or therapist about your experience. Performing CPR can be a traumatic experience, and it's important to process your emotions afterwards.
