Indications and uses for full face mask on cpap?

A full face mask is a type of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) mask that covers the entire face, including the nose, mouth, and eyes. It is typically used to treat sleep apnea, a condition in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep.

Full face masks are often used when:

  • Nasal CPAP masks are not tolerated or effective and there is a significant mouth leak, which can worsen OSA symptoms.
  • Nasal obstruction is present such as a deviated septum.
  • There is mouth breathing secondary to allergies or nasal congestion.
  • In bilevel or NIV, full face masks offer less resistance to exhalation.
