Do you need a special respirator mask before caring for suspected or confirmed TB patient?

In most cases, a properly fitted N95 respirator is sufficient for protecting healthcare workers from exposure to people who are suspected of having TB disease or known to have TB disease.

However, the use of a full face respirator (FFR) is recommended in certain circumstances, such as if the patient is producing large amounts of sputum, has a cough that produces large droplets, or requires procedures such as bronchoscopy or sputum induction.
