CPR Healthcare Professional Certification Classes

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training is an emergency preparedness procedure that is administered to individuals who are under cardiac arrest. Healthcare professionals such as nurses, paramedics and physician's assistants receive training in CPR, and are highly skilled at detecting life-threatening emergencies and providing the necessary care to restore well-being to individuals.

    • CPR Works provides certification training in a wide array of courses, including first aid and automated external defibrillators (AED). The school is affiliated with the American Heart Association, and offers certification courses to healthcare professionals. The certification lasts for two years; health professionals are required to update their certification in order to maintain their license. The courses are all classroom-based and include training in CPR for adults, children and infants. In addition to CPR training, course participants will also receive instruction in the use of AEDs. Training for recertification courses in CPR is two hours; class size is restricted to a minimum of eight participants.

    The American Heart Association

    • The American Heart Association offers various online courses to healthcare professionals in cardiovascular life support, basic life support, pediatric advanced life support and stroke training. In addition, the organization offers workforce training to non-healthcare employees who work at corporations or other institutions through its eLearning program. The flexibility of online learning is ideal for working professionals. Most courses are offered in modules that are between one to three sections, which includes hands-on skill practice lessons. The advanced cardiovascular life support training is an interactive course that includes lessons in detecting early cardiac-arrest conditions, recognizing life-threatening conditions like strokes, and effective communication with other healthcare professionals. After completing the course requirements, candidates must take a final examination after which they will receive an online certificate.

    American Health Care Academy

    • American Health Care Academy offers training in CPR, first aid and AED for adults, infants and children. All courses are offered online; they combine live video demonstrations with online reading materials. The self-paced courses are between four to nine hours, and will prepare healthcare professionals for emergencies that occur inside or outside a health facility. Course highlights include adult and child bag-mask techniques, infant CPR, choking victims, decision-making, and important factors for consideration during emergencies. After reading the course materials and taking an online examination, candidates will receive a certificate of completion, which they can print instantly.
