- Bathroom rug with rubber backing

Place a rubber mat or non-slip appliqués, also known as bath treads, on the floor of the tub. Appliqués are often available in designs, such as seashells and stars.

Install a grab bar on the supporting wall of the bathtub to aid you to stand securely as you get out of the tub. If you have a freestanding tub, install a tub rail.

Turn the light on as you enter the bathroom and keep it on as you bathe. The natural light in the room may not be sufficient to expose any small object that may have fallen on the floor or any patches of wetness.

Place a bathroom rug on the floor. It should have rubber backing so it that it won't slide as you step on it.

Keep your bathroom floor clean and dry. Regular cleaning of your bathroom is not only beneficial for hygiene and appearance but also for safety purposes. If you notice any puddles on your bathroom floor, wipe or mop them up as soon as possible.
