What would be in a tornado emergency kit?

A tornado emergency kit should contain the following items:

1. First aid kit. This should include bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and other basic first aid supplies.

2. Water. Have at least three days' worth of water on hand, one gallon per person, per day.

3. Food. Stock up on non-perishable foods that can be eaten without cooking, such as canned goods, granola bars, and dried fruit.

4. Flashlights and batteries. Keep several flashlights and extra batteries on hand in case of power outages.

5. Radio. A battery-powered radio will allow you to stay informed about weather conditions and other emergencies.

6. Medications. Make sure you have enough of your prescription medications on hand to last for at least three days.

7. Clothing. Pack a change of clothing for each member of your family.

8. Bedding. Include blankets or sleeping bags to keep warm in case of power outages.

9. Toiletries. Pack items such as toothpaste, shampoo, and toilet paper.

10. Important documents. Keep copies of important documents, such as your driver's license, insurance policies, and birth certificates, in a waterproof container.

11. Cash. Keep some cash on hand in case ATMs and credit card machines are not working.

12. Pet supplies. If you have pets, include food, water, and leashes in your kit.

13. Fire extinguisher. This should be at least 5-10 lb. fire extinguisher.

14. Masks, sanitizer/soap-n-water, sanitizer wipes This will help keep illness spread down should your home be compromised during storm events.

15. Batteries and chargers for any electric and medical devices needed This includes chargers and extra batter.
