How to Use a Taser Gun

As a self-defense mechanism, the taser gun is an effective means of protection. A taser gun emits a shock to a possible assailant that renders them incapacitated and incapable of attacking. There are other means of self-defense that are effective, such as using martial arts, kicking, or pepper spray. However, a taser gun is easy to use and does not require special physical skills that martial arts would need. Sprays are not guaranteed to affect all assailants equally whereas an electric shock from a taser gun will.

Instructions

Ensure the cartridge is properly placed inside the taser gun. The cartridge will only enter the taser gun in the correct manner that is depicted in directional pictures on the edge of the taser gun. Always keep the cartridge in the taser gun.

    • 2

Remove the taser gun from the holding device upon your person. Sometimes the device is kept in a holster on the belt or in a pouch in the purse. If the situation seems dangerous, removal of the taser gun is needed before the possible assailant can reach a distance of 10 feet away from you. The taser gun will reach a distance of 15 feet.

    • 3

Switch the taser safety bar to "armed" by moving the bar forward.

    • 4

Aim the gun toward the assailant. Point at either the assailant's chest or legs. As this type of situation is frightening, the amount of adrenaline processing through the body might make the arms shake. This will lead to poor aim. To rectify that, aim for the largest area on the assailant, which is usually the chest.

    • 5

Press the trigger. If the desired effect is to stun the assailant with 30 seconds of charge, the trigger must be pulled three times in fast succession. If the 30-second shock is not desired, holding the trigger until satisfied works in the same manner.

    • 6

Release the trigger to end the current of electricity and run away from the situation. Throw the taser gun on the ground and run. The taser will be discovered by the police and returned to you.
