Nfpa 13 Sprinkler Standards

The NFPA is the National Fire Protection Association. The NFPA develops and publishes standards governing a wide range of fire protection issues, including a standard for sprinkler system installation. NFPA members are entitled to purchase the standards at a discounted price.

    • As of 2011, the relevant standard governing sprinkler system installation is entitled "NFPA 13: Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, 2010 Edition." It contains information system design water supplies, installation and equipment.

    Standard Topics

    • The standard contains a very wide range of specific standard topics. A short list includes sprinkler system type definitions, joining of pipe and fittings, antifreeze systems, residential sprinklers, special installation situations and hose connections.

    • NFPA 13 may be purchased from the NFPA website. It may be purchased in the form of a book or a pdf file. As of January 2011, the price is $79.00 for non-members and $71.10 for members.
