The NFPA has produced a number of standards governing server room alarm standards. These include NFPA 75 -- Standard for Protection of Computer and Data Processing Equipment, NFPA 72 -- National Fire Alarm Code and NFPA 76 - Standard for the Fire Protection of Telecommunications Facilities.
Alarms

It is recommended alarms be equipped with signaling and notification devices. They should be audible and visible, and capable of alerting personnel that a fire has been discovered. They should also be equipped with control systems which contain characteristics such as time delays, passwords and thresholds.
