Online Courses

The Emergency Management Institute offers free independent study courses via its website on a rolling enrollment basis. The Institute provides these self-paced online courses to the public and emergency management personnel in support of the National Preparedness Goal.
On-Campus Courses
-
The Institute offers courses requiring specialized software or interpersonal interactions on its Maryland campus. Applicants must meet course selection criteria, prerequisites and application deadlines to qualify, which vary by course. The course catalog provides specific information for each course.
Housing
-
Students completing on-campus courses may stay in the Institute's on-campus housing facility for $25 per night as of August 2010, if they do not qualify for stipend reimbursement or in off-campus accommodations. Students who do qualify for stipend reimbursement may stay in on-campus housing without charge.
Application
-
Online courses do not require an application, but on-campus courses do. The applicant must complete and sign the EMI application, also referred to as FEMA Form 75-5, and have it reviewed and approved by the head of their sponsoring organization, their state emergency management agency and the admissions office of the National Emergency Training Center.
