In the event of an emergency, all members of your family need to be prepared, including your children. While talking about emergency preparedness with your kids may seem scary, educating your children on what to do in a time of crisis will help keep them safe. Sesame Street and the Federal Emergency Management Agency provide online educational activities to teach children about emergency preparedness.

    • Learning about disasters can be scary for young children, but it can be made easier when taught by a beloved character. The Sesame Street Let's Get Ready website offers activities, videos, information and planning tips for emergency preparedness. There is an activity book available for download that features Grover and Elmo, and includes mazes, matching games and finger puppets as well as information on what to do in case of an emergency. A step-by-step guide on how to make a family emergency plan is provided.
