Learn to use everyday items for self defense. If you are threatened in any way, be prepared to fight back for your safety and your life with whatever you have. Know that there are items you often carry in your purse or your pockets that can save your life.

Use your keys as a self defense weapon. Keys are ideal for punching into an attacker's eyes or throat. When you are on your way out to your car, have your keys in your hand with your vehicle key firmly grasped between your thumb and clinched fingers. Have the pointed end of the key facing outward.

Have your cell phone in your hand, especially when you are walking across dark parking lots or entering secluded areas or buildings. Often, a would-be attacker is discouraged by the site of your cell phone held securely and confidently in your hand. Besides the quick ability to call 911, the cell phone itself can be used to jab at an attacker's head, eyes or throat.
