How to Cook During a Power Outage
When you experience a power outage you might be used to limiting meals to cold sandwiches, granola bars, beef jerky and anything else that can easily be eaten without cooking. However, with a little bit of advance preparation you can still cook a meal even when the power is out.Instructions

Use a propane camping stove to cook on. A propane stove should always be used outdoors or in a well ventilated area. Be sure to keep your propane supply full so you are prepared next time the power goes out.

Start a campfire outside and cook over it on a grill or use a dutch oven set up on a tripod.

Keep a small sterno stove with cans of sterno on hand for your next power outage. These are great for cooking small easy to prepare items such as pancakes or eggs. They also work well for warming soups.

Prepare a meal on top of your wood burning stove if you have one as your heating source.

Roast hot dogs on sticks in your fire place if your house is equipped with one of them. Wrap potatoes in aluminum foil and put them inside the fireplace to cook.

Boil water in a pan on top of a kerosene heater. Some kerosene heaters are even designed with a special top to make the pan sit securely on the top. If yours is flat on the top be sure you are put it someplace it won't get knocked. Use the boiling water to make pasta or hot dogs. Also a great way to make your morning coffee or tea.
