How to Prepare for Nuclear War
Only a few years ago, the prospect of nuclear war seemed distant. Today, however, with a number of different countries racing towards nuclear technology, the idea that nuclear war might occur is all too real. While it's hard to do much to prevent nuclear war, you follow these steps to prepare for one.Instructions

1
Know where to go. A house, stadium or other walled structure is unlikely to provide much protection for you in the case of full-scale nuclear war. The radioactive atoms that cause damage easily pass through most walls. So, you need to know where to go in the case of a nuclear war. The options includes an fortified bunker or an isolated location, such as a desert, where the fighting is unlikely to reach.

2
Stockpile food and water. Clean water will be your most precious resource during a nuclear war. Since the attacks will not only contaminate water supplies but also throw government departments into chaos, you need to be able to provide yourself with water and food. Stock dehydrated foods that come in light, portable packaging (such as military meals-ready-to-eat) and large jerry cans of water.

3
Get potassium iodide. This chemical comes in small tablets, and it can protect you from radiation poisoning. The potassium iodide fills your thyroid so that harmful radioactive iodine cannot enter your system. Check out retailers such as ReadyPrep for a good source of potassium iodide.

Have a radio, power supply, first aid kit and means of transportation ready to go. A radio is an invaluable piece of equipment during any emergency since it provides access to information and warnings. Having extra batteries to power flashlights, a first aid kit to treat wounds and a means of transport will also go a long way in keeping you prepared for nuclear war. Buy a gas powered generator in case the power goes down.
