Solar-Powered Machines That Help Stop Air Pollution

Solar energy converts the rays of the sun into electricity through a photovoltaic process or into heat usually by raising the temperature of water. Machines powered by solar energy do not generate pollution while they are operating. Solar power equipment manufacturers continue to refine their products to make them more efficient and cheaper.
  1. Industrial

    • Industrial usage is the largest use of solar power. Solar power can be seen often in highway safety equipment, telecommunications, and oil companies. Call boxes and lighted signs near highways are typically solar powered. Since industrial uses consume the most energy in the United States, using solar power for industrial needs may greatly reduce air pollution.

    Rural Habitation

    • Included in rural habitation are homes, cabins, schools, clinics, and farms. Because running lines from the main power grid to isolated buildings is expensive many of these places are experimenting with alternative energy sources including solar power.

    Vehicles

    • Electric-powered vehicles are becoming more popular as fuel prices continue to rise. While very few of those vehicles are completely powered by solar energy it is one alternative found increasingly in the mix along with hybrids, hydrogen fuel and other alternatives.

    Consumer/Indoor

    • Consumers are using solar powered machines at increasing rates. Watches, calculators, radios, and even computers are now being powered by solar. Consumers are more aware of the value of solar powered machines. There are now solar-powered devices for charging your other electronic gadgets.
