How to Dispose of Beauty Products
Most beauty products like hairspray, nail polish and hair dyes are recognizes as hazardous materials. They can contain methanol alcohol and other very dangerous chemicals. Disposing of these products is the same as disposing of other hazardous materials like batteries; tossing them away with other waste can be very damaging to the environment. It is much safer -- and legal in some areas -- to treat these beauty products like the hazardous waste that they are, and dispose of them safely.Instructions

1
Seal all containers with their own caps or lids. In addition to making sure the containers are sealed, this will ensure there is no risk of hazardous materials from the lids, should they be left out or disposed elsewhere.
-
2
Wrap all the containers in polythene plastic covers like plastic grocery bags and tie them up. Make sure the bags are as tightly sealed as possible.
-
3
Contact any agencies or programs in your area that specialize in disposing of hazardous materials. This can include your local Department of Health or special recycling repository that disposes of things like batteries.
-
4
Transport your wrapped materials to the disposal unit you located in the previous step. In many cases, you won't dispose of the materials personally, but give them to a worker, possibly via a drive-through service.
