How to Treat Hazardous Waste Exemptions

Improperly treating hazardous waste exemptions could pose a serious safety threat to your home, company and community. Although it varies for each state, proper hazardous exemption disposal is protected by law and could cost a hefty fine if ignored. According to the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Guidance, hazardous waste exemptions federally consist of solid household wastes, mining wastes, wastes generated from farming or raising animals, ash waste, flue gas emission control waste and wastes associated with processing crude oil, natural gas, geothermal energy, ores or minerals.
