How to Recycle Tin Cans in Missouri
Missouri's recycling program is overseen by the state's Department of Natural Resources. The state has committed to supporting the implementation and improvement of recycling programs, as well as reducing the amount of waste generated by its citizens. While the state does not have enforced recycling requirements, many municipalities have implemented recycling programs for residential and commercial customers. Missouri residents have a range of opportunities to recycle tin cans, from curbside pickup in large cities, to drop-off locations in more rural areas.Instructions

1
Contact your municipality about curbside pickup. Some Missouri cities and towns have curbside recycling programs. Call your local government to inquire about the availability of pickup of your tin cans for recycling at your home.

2
Locate the nearest drop-off facility. Many communities in Missouri have drop-off recycling locations operated by both local governments and private companies. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources maintains a list of locations on their website (see Resources), or you can contact your local governmental authorities for more information. Call ahead to make sure the drop-off location accepts tin cans.

3
Separate your recyclables. Many recycling entities require you to separate your tin cans from glass, paper, plastic and other recyclable materials. Place your tin cans in a separate container.

4
Rinse out your cans. While some recycling centers accept cans in any condition, others require consumers to clean their tin cans prior to dropping them off. Call to determine the requirements for your materials prior to going to a drop-off location.
