A hazardous waste is a dangerous type of waste that cannot be disposed of by regular means like other byproducts because it can seep into the ground and contaminate the water supplies,causing diseases and increasing mortality. Contact your local hazardous waste council to find out the toxic transfer stations or hazardous waste disposal areas in your vicinity.

Obtain a consignment note for legal transporting of hazardous waste from an environmental agency, fill in Part A and B of the six-copy consignment note and submit a copy to the regulator at least three days before the waste is removed.

Wear protective gloves and clearly label the bin with the words "Hazardous Waste" in bold letters followed by the hazardous class, the name and the date that the hazardous waste was placed in the container.

Use leakproof, watertight and heavy-duty pads to protect the floor of the vehicle to be used to transport the hazardous waste, and place the bins on top of the pads in an upright position to prevent them from tilting over.

Carefully transport the hazardous wastes to the transfer station or disposal area, using a good air circulation vehicle, preferably a dump truck, and also dispose of the protective pads and gloves.
