Dangers of Living Near Cell Phone Towers

Cell phone towers emit microwave radiation or electromagnetic fields which are known to be harmful. Studies are being conducted worldwide to determine how much microwave radio signals damage immune systems, brain function, cell structure and the relationship to disease. The closer you live to a cell phone tower the higher the risk for potential disease and other health issues.
  1. Cancer Risk

    • A German study conducted over 10 years has shown there is a higher rate of malignant tumors for people who live within 1312.34 feet of cell phone towers. The findings show that after five years, the incidents increased by three times and the people in the study were getting cancer at a younger age then the general population. Studies have shown a significant increase in cases of childhood and adult leukemia cases ranging from 2.2 time to 9 times higher rates for those living near transmitter towers.

    Irritability and Depression

    • Studies done on rats have shown that microwave radio waves do cause depression by damaging the cerebral cortex. Microwave and radio frequency radiation actually changed the brain's electrical activity and caused a deformation in the structure of the brain. One theory is that the microwaves actually heat the brain tissue, causing thermal damage similar to the heating that occurs inside your microwave oven, of course at lower temperatures.

    Learning Difficulties

    • It has been shown that electromagnetic fields change the choline-uptake in the brain which causes learning difficulties. In experiments, rats exposed to electromagnetic fields had a much more difficult time navigating a food maze. Also, the rats took much longer to find a platform in a swimming lane that would allow them to rest despite having been taught to look for the platform. People were found to have a greater potential of slower brain functioning and a decrease in children's ability to concentrate even at lower than the recommended levels of exposure.

    Infertility and Birth Defects

    • Microwave radiation is known to cause DNA problems, leading to genetic defects or other developmental problem and causing a higher rate of miscarriage. Termination by miscarriage of the pregnancy is more typical then the actual birth of baby rats with defects.

Though mice studies it's has also been found that through long exposure, the number of baby mice born decreased continuously until the final outcome of permanent infertility resulted. Likewise, in male mice, with exposure over time, their sperm count was down and the number of abnormal sperm increased.
