1
Locate a recycling or disposal plant near your home. San Francisco and the surrounding areas are home to a number of plants that accept wood pallets. Enter your address or ZIP code into the search function of a site such as Bay Area Recycling or EcoFindeRRR, and choose the location nearest you.
-
2
Choose whether you want to deliver the pallets to the disposal plant yourself, or would like the plant to pick them up from your home. Depending on the facility, you may have to pay a fee for pickup of your pallet materials. Weigh the costs of a pickup fee versus the time and gas money spent taking the pallets to the disposal plant yourself.
-
3
Prepare the pallets for transportation. If you are transporting the pallets, load the pallets one at a time into the back of your vehicle. Stack the pallets neatly in piles that do not create a top-heavy structure. Secure the pile with rope. If the pallets are going to be picked up, ask the facility how it would like the pallets arranged.
-
4
Count the number of pallets you will give to the facility. You will need the number of wooden pallets to determine the money you will be paid for your recycling.
-
5
Deliver the pallets, or schedule the pallets to be delivered to your chosen disposal facility.
