Recycling Scrap Metal
Scrap metal is often comprised of pieces of metal, metal cans, junk cars or trucks and entire appliances made from metal such as an old refrigerator or stove. Some municipalities offer recycling programs for scrap metal. You can also recycle it by selling it to scrap metal dealers who will determine the value of the metal and offer you a price for it.Instructions

1
Gather your scrap-metal pieces and, if they are small, place them in a box or bag. Get a pickup to transport bigger scrap-metal items.
-
2
Sort the pieces based on the types of metals you are recycling. Separate light metals from heavy metals.

3
Contact your local municipality to find out if it offers a disposal recycling service for scrap metals. Ask what types of scrap metal items are picked up and on what days. Call your electric or gas company to see if there is a service offered to pick up your old appliances, such as your old refrigerator, for a small rebate. Recycle your old vehicles, running or not, by donating them to local charities that take donated vehicles as tax-deductible charitable contributions.

Sell your scrap metal to scrap metal dealers in your area. Recycle your scrap metal and get paid for at the same time; dealers offer varying prices, which can range from $.50 to $2 per pound.
