Lead Safe Work Practices
-
Federally funded projects on properties built prior to 1978 must follow EPA lead safe practices as well as child care services and schools. Precautions are taken to eliminate lead dust during the replacement of windows and doors. Properties are tested by a certified risk assessor before and after construction for the presence of lead paint
Lead Risk Assessor
-
A certified lead risk assessor must receive instruction from an approved agency on the use of the XRF analyzer equipment and other lead testing. HUD certifies risk assessors upon satisfactory completion of the course.
Lead Abatement
-
Lead abatement removes all surfaces that contain lead paint which can include doors, windows, trims, baseboards, stairs, rails, and banisters. It can also include outside surfaces that are wood and landscaping and dirt that can contain lead dust around the perimeter of the house.
