How to Recycle a HP Battery

A variety of Hewlett-Packard products use batteries, including phones, printers and PCs. When a battery reaches the end of its life, recycling it rather than throwing it away in household trash can help protect the environment and human health from any harmful materials it contains. HP recognizes the negative impact that batteries can have. Although HP doesn't directly recycle its batteries, it supports the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), a nonprofit organization that provides free recycling assistance for single-use and rechargeable batteries. HP recommends that you dispose of your HP batteries at an RBRC retail partner location or a local recycling facility.

  Go to the RBRC Call2Recycle website (see Resources) or use the Call2Recycle Helpline at 800-822-8837.

  Enter your ZIP code information to find a drop-off location. If you use the website, enter your ZIP code in the "Find a Drop-Off Location" search field and click the right arrow or press "Enter" on your computer keyboard. If you use the Call2Recycle Helpline, follow the phone prompts and enter your ZIP code on your phone keypad.

  Drop off your HP battery or batteries at one of the retail locations provided.

  Contact your local waste disposal or recycling facility and ask about battery recycling locations in your area if you can't find an RBRC-affiliated program. Additionally, ask if you need to follow any special procedures for dropping off an HP battery or batteries. Drop off the battery or batteries at a recommended location.
