How to Recycle Glass in Olathe, Kansas

The city of Olathe, Kansas, is cooperating with the Ripple Glass recycling program to make it easier for Olathe residents to recycle their glass bottles. Just drop off your glass bottles at one of the city's drop-off centers, and you can be on your way.

Although the city of Olathe does offer the bi-weekly curb-side pickup for recyclables, glass is not included in the list of accepted materials and must be dropped off at one of three recycling centers.

Instructions

    • 1

Separate your glass bottles from the rest of your recycling. Olathe's recycling centers only accept glass bottles and cannot take other types of glass such as sheet glass or old windows. You do not need to separate different colored glass bottles.

    • 2

Empty the bottles of any remaining liquid and then rinse them out. Rinse off the outside of the bottles as well, if necessary.

    • 3

Bag your glass bottles. Make sure that the bag can support the weight of your bottles and will not rip open.

Bring your glass recyclables to one of three recycling centers in the Olathe area. The three recycling centers are the Downtown Recycling Drop-Off, which is located in the parking lot for the farmer's market at the corner of Kansas Avenue and Poplar Street; the East Olathe Recycling Drop-off, which is located at 13600 S. Alden Street, in the north-east corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot; and the West Olathe Recycling Drop-off, which is located at the corner of Parker Street and Santa Fe Street, in the north end of the Wal-Mart parking lot.
