Free Asbestos Awareness Training

Asbestos awareness has become an increasingly important part of health care. Ever since the damage done to human lungs by asbestos was first documented in the 1920s, continued efforts have been made to identify and contain this hazardous substance.

    • If you want to take a free, computer course in asbestos awareness, the Energy Industry CTB Alliance offers training in this area. Other asbestos-related courses provided by the organization include conditions related to the disease, such as mesothelioma and asbestosis.

    • If you are looking for written training materials regarding industry standards for asbestos use and removal, the Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Department of Labor's Office of Training and Education has training materials covering these provisions available at no charge.

    Classroom

    • If you are looking more for one-on-one training, the The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Educational Resource Centers provide Environmental Protection Agency-approved training. Your local college or university may also provide courses on this topic: several that offer free asbestos awareness modules include UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, the University of Kansas and the University of Utah.
