License Training for Asbestos

Asbestos is a toxic substance and a known carcinogen that can cause several serious diseases in humans, such as mesothelioma. It is a fibrous, insulating material that can be found in old buildings. Symptoms of such diseases develop over a period of years following asbestos exposure. License training is required to have a job in asbestos removal.
  1. License Training

    • In order to ensure the quality and safety of every asbestos removal work performed, the United States requires asbestos workers and contractors to finish an asbestos-removal training cycle before receiving the license. You must pass pass an asbestos course or class.

    Training Certification

    • Asbestos-removal training is usually done through a state-approved provider. Your state's local environmental department should be contacted for inquiry on asbestos-removal training certifications. There are possible required levels of experience, training and fees that must be achieved before receiving a certification.

    State-Mandated Exams

    • After receiving the asbestos-training certification, you must take a state-mandated certification test in which you must rely on your knowledge from the training program. You need to pass the state exam in order to work in a job that deals with asbestos.
