Hazards of Isopropyl Palmitate
Isopropyl palmitate acts as a binding agent. It is a common ingredient in many beauty products, especially ones with emollient properties like moisturizers, creams and lotions. It is also found in some lipsticks, sunscreens and baby lotions. Less commonly, isopropyl palmitate can be found in perfume, eyeliner and styling gels. Certain hazards have been connected to the use of isopropyl palmitate.-
Toxicity in Non-Reproductive Organs
-
Low doses of isopropyl palmitate have been shown, in one or more studies, to cause systemic toxicity in non-reproductive organs of animals.
Irritation
-
Low doses of isopropyl palmitate have been shown, in one or more studies, to cause skin irritation in animals.
Safety Limit
-
Safety studies employ an "as used" concentration of isopropyl palmitate (equal to the amount used as directed, as in moisturizers). This implies is that there is a limit to the concentration of isopropyl palmitate that it is safe to use.
