How to Recycle Brother Cartridges

Throwing spent Brother cartridges away with normal garbage adds difficult-to-break down and hazardous waste materials to landfills, resulting in a negative environmental and health impact. With that in mind, Brother International created a toner, ink and used consumable product disposal environmental program that recycles toner, ink, drum and P-touch tape cartridges through reuse, remanufacturing and/or waste-to-energy conversion. The program is free and Brother cartridge users only need to return ship Brother cartridges via the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) using prepaid merchandise return labels.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your Brother cartridge in its original carton. If you don't have the original carton, wrap the cartridge with a plastic bag to prevent ink or toner leakage (if applicable) and pack it in a plain cardboard or USPS shipping box approximately the same size of your original carton. Seal the box with clear packing tape.

    • 2

Print out the "Brother USPS Prepaid Merchandise Return Labels" page (see Resources) and then cut out a label with scissors. Fill out the "From" address lines with your information and then tape the label to the carton or box.

    • 3

Drop the carton or box off at your local USPS branch location or into a USPS mail drop bin.
