Which strain Ecoli detected by sereny test?

Sereny test is used for the detection of Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli (STEC) in stool. Vero cells are used in this test. The Vero cell cytotoxicity test is based on the ability of STEC to cause cytopathic effects (CPE) in Vero cells. The principle of the test is that STEC cytotoxins produced by the bacteria can damage Vero cells, leading to cell death and release of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) into the culture medium. The presence of LDH in the culture medium can be detected using a spectrophotometer, and the amount of LDH released is proportional to the number of STEC present in the sample. A positive Sereny test indicates the presence of STEC in the stool sample.
