What is sterile mean first aid?
First aid kits often contain individually wrapped sterile dressings and other items to help ensure that injured areas are protected and infection-free. Some products may also be designated as "non-sterile" or "clean" which mean they may contain some microorganisms but are still at a lower risk of causing infection.
Here are some examples of sterile first aid supplies:
- Adhesive bandages
- Gauze dressings
- Non-stick pads
- Sterile gloves
- Alcohol wipes
- Bandage tape
- Hand sanitizers
- Water based lubricants
Remember that proper hygiene practices are also important to minimize the risk of infection. This includes ensuring your hands are clean before providing first aid and wearing disposable gloves if possible.
