What did Live Aid raise money for?

Live Aid was a benefit concert series that took place on 13 July 1985. The event was organised to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia and was held in London, England and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two concerts featured a number of notable musicians and bands, including The Who, Queen, David Bowie, Status Quo, Madonna, Duran Duran, and Bob Dylan. The event was watched by an estimated 1.9 billion people worldwide and raised £150 million for famine relief.
