Industrial First Aid Training

Industrial first aid training fulfills many purposes within the work setting. Whether an employee has suffered an accident on the job or becomes victim to a sudden illness, first aid training allows for basic life-saving measures by trained and qualified personnel.
  1. Government Requirements

    • The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, also called OSHA, requires that the employer have a first aid provider on-site, regardless of the size of the particular business or industry. The only exception includes an employer that has a medical facility either on or near the premises available to all employees.

    Training Components

    • Industrial first aid training does not solely focus on CPR but may include use of medical devices such as an automated external defibrillator (AED). Training also includes information on how to handle industry specific emergencies or accidents involving chemicals, confined spaces and other potential risks for that facility.

    Responsible Safety Personnel

    • Depending on the industrial setting, multiple individuals may have the responsibility of completing first aid training. Many facilities may provide basic life support and AED training to all employees while others may rely almost solely on designated personnel. The majority of supervisors and direct managers in this setting are required to have completed industrial first aid training.
