What Is Level 2 First Aid Training?
Level 2 First Aid, which is also known as Senior First Aid, is a course offered by the Red Cross in Australia. It is a nationally recognized two day training course which offers advanced first aid training beyond the basics of level one training.-

Level 2 First Aid training covers a wide range of emergency preparedness topics, including assessing situations, basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), wound care and the treatment of bites and stings.
Advanced topics

Additional, more advanced topics include CPR in special circumstances, poisoning, infection control and dealing with patients with severe allergic reactions. The course is wide ranging and is designed to cover virtually every potential first aid scenario.
Duration

Due to the extensive coverage, the Level 2 First Aid course takes a minimum of 15 hours to complete. There are no prerequisites.
Renewal

The course must be renewed every three years. However, the CPR training section of the class requires more frequent renewal. The current guidelines of the Australian Red Cross require CPR renewal every year.
Assessment

Passing Level 2 First Aid requires not only a written test, but also in-person demonstration of the skills covered during the class. In addition, role play exercises designed to simulate real life emergency scenarios are integral to the course.
