How to Properly Use Eyewash & Emergency Showers
In most places where chemicals are mixed you'll find emergency eyewash and shower stations. They are to be used in case harmful chemicals are spilled onto your skin or get into your eyes. The objective is to limit the damage to your skin and eyes and, if the chemicals are harmful enough, save your vision.Instructions

1
Turn on the eyewash station or emergency shower. For most eyewash stations there is a foot petal you stand on to activate it. For showers there is a chain you pull down on.
-
2
Stand in the shower or use the eyewash station for at least five minutes for mild irritation or up to 60 minutes for a penetrating chemical. Flush out your eyes immediately for the duration of the time.

3
Call 911 in case of severe burns. You may need medial treatment.
-
4
Remove your foot from the eyewash center or let go of the chain. This shuts off the emergency devices.
