How to Use an Ace Bandage

Use an Ace bandage when you are injured and want to put compression on a body part, such as knee, elbow, wrist, leg, arm or stomach. Compression helps relieve the swelling, which eases pain. The Ace bandage can also help hold an ice pack in place on a body part. An Ace bandage will give support to your injured area and act as a reminder to you of the injured area.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the area you are going to apply the ace bandage.

    • 2

Start with the Ace bandage rolled up. Hold the Ace bandage on the body below the injury.

    • 3

Wrap the rest of the Ace bandage upward towards the injury at an angle.

    • 4

Continue around the injury to the place where you are holding the start of the Ace bandage. Keep wrapping the ace bandage around the injury in a figure eight pattern for two turns.

    • 5

Use the rest of the Ace bandage to wrap in a circle around the top injury to the bottom.

    • 6

Apply the metal clips or the adhesive tape to the end of the Ace bandage to hold it in place.
