1
Register online. Several certified websites can issue a valid Oregon Food Handler's permit (see Resources). Avoid fraudulent sites by ensuring that the website is certified by the Oregon Department of Human Services. The website will provide you with the required reading material for a food handlers permit.
-
2
Study the State of Oregon's Food Handler's Manual on the website. Oregon's Department of Human Services also provides an online copy of the manual in PDF format, as well as translations in several different languages.
-
3
Review the First Aid for Choking manual. This manual explains first aid techniques used in response to a choking emergency, and is available from the website with which you registered.
-
4
Pay the $10 fee and take the Oregon Food Handlers license test on the website with which you registered. After completing the test, print out two copies of your permit. Give one copy to your employer and keep the other for your personal records.
