What Is the Induction & Training Process for Food Industries?
Despite the wide variety of positions within the food industry, training and induction follows the same general path or guidelines. After an employee is hired and given the safety training necessary, the employee is ready to begin the actual process of learning the new position.-
Observation

The first few days or weeks on the new job, the employee will do nothing but observe the trainer as the trainer works. The trainer will explain why and how the job is done and what safety standards are required.
Supervised Production

New employees will learn the new position by attempting to fulfill job duties while being supervised by the trainer or another employee. This allows the new employee to receive hands-on training while still having help available. The new employee may be asked to assist with cleanup, packaging or customer assistance.
Partnered Production

Often, new employees will be placed with a more experienced employee of the same level or pay grade while the new employee builds experience and practices the routine. Job tasks will be divided equally.
Solo Production

New employees are finally released to work on their own once they are deemed able to handle all areas of the food production process safely.
