Why Test Total Mold & Yeast?
-
Yeast Infection and Testing
-
Yeast is said to be found in the atmosphere and develops on spoiled food, especially fruits, vegetables, breads, flour and other food items that are left open for some time. These food items not only look, smell or taste bad, but carbon dioxide produced from yeast is capable of causing serious health hazards. This is one obvious reason why yeast testing is done. Yeast can be tested at home by dissolving it in water and sugar. If froth and foam appear on the surface, it is an indication that the yeast is alive.
Mold and Testing
-
Mold infections are common and are manifested in the form of allergies. These microscopic fungi are found in yogurt and cheese. People suffering from mold infections have respiratory problems, sinus infections, sneezing and running nose. Mold can be tested by smelling the substance as well as through infrared cameras and other laboratory testing.
Test Kits
-
You can test for yeast and mold using specific test kits, which usually contain 3M Petri film test sheets, a few reagent bottles and a manual that shows you how to use the items from the test kit.
