Cook a whole chicken thoroughly to 180 degrees Fahrenheit measured at the thigh with a meat thermometer.

Let the chicken cool at room temperature for no more than two hours.

Place the chicken in a clean, sealed container or a bowl covered in cling film, ensuring a tight seal.

Place the container at the back of the fridge to ensure it stays at a constant temperature. The refrigerator should be set lower than 40 degrees Fahrenheit during storage. Cooked chicken can be frozen for four months in a freezer bag or container. Write the date that it was frozen on it.
